I just finished an excellent article in the October 1996 Contemporary
Pediatrics journal (vol. 13, no. 10). "Early Assessment of the Breastfeeding
Infant" by Marianne Niefert, M.D. It is an excellent overview and refresher
for health care providers, especially with early pp discharge and follow-up.I
have made copies for all the peds and np's in my clinic. It would be a good
handout for direct-care providers that you might be speaking to or maybe a
nice thing to send to private providers that are giving out incorrect BF info
to your clients.
