I wonder if it would help if she  would hold her breast in the scissors hold
and compress it just behind the  areola to squish the ducts a bit.  This might
accomplish the same thing as  the baby's bite does, but a lot less painfully.
 She can gently let up a  bit during the feed, seeing how the baby does.
When Donna Ramsay did the  ultrasound of the MER during a feed she showed that it
doesn't take much  pressure to compress the ducts themselves.  Perhaps if mom
does it, it  might help.  At this point, I don't think I'd be terribly
concerned about  plugged ducts.....

Might be worth a try....
