I am sorry I cannot see how hard it would be to quit smoking if you were
breastfeeding.  The mother should have quit when she was pregnant; actually
months before.  What is with society putting themselves first?  When you have
a child growing inside you and you want the best thing for him, breastfeeding,
you quit your nasty habits and put the child first.  I am a reformed smoker
and I guess those are the worst ones, but I had no problems quitting because I
knew I had to for my children.  Ask that mom if she would take a drag off her
cigarette and blow it directly into her babies face.  There is no difference
if the poor child is getting smoke in utero, through the breast, or second
hand while adoring his mother.  Smoking while pregnant or breastfeeding is
completely unacceptable.  Sorry to vent, but I get so irritated when I see a
pregnant or breastfeeding mom smoking.  And then they wonder why they have a
low milk supply. :-(
