To end a heavy week on a positive note, some might be interested in our new
hospital policy for visitors.

Our old policy allowed for fathers (or other birth partner) and siblings to
visit any time until 21h00. Other visitors were restricted to 15h00 to
16h00 (no children under 12) and the babies were in the nursery for
infection and security reasons. Grandparents only were allowed between 19h00
to 20h00 and babies were in the rooms with their mothers.

Now - the times are the same, but all babies are with their mothers for
visiting times - *skin-to-skin*. The mothers really love this because they
really don't want their visitors picking the baby up and passing him around.
Visiting time is so quiet - no babies crying! The new policy has been
well-accepted, even by staff members who have not been very suportive of
KMC.
