Phyllis,

You wrote, "Who needs independent researchers when the manufacturers will
tear each other up while we watch."

If only that were the case, Ross is adding Martek's DHA and AA to one of its
specialty formulas and Nestle, who was considered the last hold out, has added
Martek oils, too.

"COLUMBIA, Md., Jun 2, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Martek Biosciences
Corporation (Nasdaq: MATK) announced today that Abbott Laboratories' Ross
Products Division will launch the first and only protein hydrolysate infant formula
with iron in the U.S. to be supplemented with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and
arachidonic acid (ARA). The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has
completed its review of Ross' Alimentum(R) Advance(R), a product that will
contain a blend of Martek's DHA and ARA. The formula is expected to be available
in stores in a ready-to-feed form beginning this summer."

The industry may battle each other for a share in customers but they are
definitely a united front most of the time.
Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
