She called me after she read that casein can cause issues for up to two
weeks (or more) after removal from the diet. She was wondering how long the
tree nut proteins would continue to linger in breastmilk? She said the
hives only last 10min or so now and then disappear.

~~~Hi Sandra,
A few possibilities: that mom is unknowingly ingesting small amounts of the
 same "offending" foods, not by eating them directly, but because they are
hiding  as oils in a product, or in the processing equipment if baby is/has
become very  sensitive. Often just "not eating nuts" isn't enough and moms
need to read  labels very carefully for traces of things.  Another
possibility is now  that one food issue has shown itself, baby has hit the "tipping
point" and  others will declare themselves too now, like now it's also tree
nuts and corn,  or soy, etc. Not that casein is the issue, but many moms find
that it can take 2  weeks at minimum to clear both mom and babe, and
sometimes like 3-4. But it  could be part of the issue that dairy proteins are also
now in the mix as well.  For moms trying to eat well while figuring this
out ( with your help) I  recommend this site: Green and Bitchy, and the week
of menus of delicious  foods she put together without the Top 8.
