Dear Lacnetters,

Wondering whether anyone can give me some input on this. I'm looking for
decent studies regarding bf after breat augmentation. There's hardly
anything out there. The studies I do have (Neifert 1990, Hurst 1996 and
Strom 1997) are all retrospective and small numbers. The Neifert study that
is quoted everywhere only has 5 women who underwent augmentation.

From the vibes / theory I pick up and what your told is that breastfeeding
after augmentation should be as easy (think positive!) as without
augmentation given that the implant is not through a perioareolar inscision.
But try to find some data to back that up - no success. So now I'm appealing
to the wise ones (which of course is everyone here) for some input.

Anyone have bags of experience with women with implants? Is it just a
non-issue in the sense that you don't need to worry any more about a woman
with implants than one without (leaving aside the women who have had
implants for tubulous breast or extreme asym.)?

I'm not looking for info on the safety of silicone, thank goodness that has
been covered thoroughly.

Have to admit, I'm looking for some more postitive information from the
literature that shows that many women successfully breatfeeding with
implants, just can't find it :-(
