As an LC, I get all sorts of stuff in the mail for products for nursing mothers.

Yesterday I got an envelope in the mail from one such place. The mail comes
in to my husband's office, so he called me at home and told me that
something had come in that really offeneded him written on the envelope.
The envelope has on it the "no bottle" symbol- you know that one- a bottle
in a circle with a line through it. There were the following word around
it "If men could experience the pleasure of nursing, would they have
invented infant formula?"

Does this offend you? It really offended my husband. He has given freely
of his time and energy to support me and my efforts both in breatsfeeding
and with League. He is the worlds greatest advocate of breastfeeding. He
said that he doesn't know why everyone has to assume that formula was
invented my a man- after all aren't most bottles of the stuff put into
babies by women. I know I know- it is the "male model" of the medical
establishment that we are fighting- but I think that is would be wrong to
say we are fighting men. I hope I am not offending anyone with this letter,
but I do think that this is one product that I will not be buying- at least
from this company. I will be writing to them and explaining my concerns.

By the way- the product- a nursing pillow. And here's an irony- there is a
picture of a man giving a bottle inside the full color brochure with the
caption "easier for Dad & Grandparents"
