Hi Tricia

My 1999 edition of Hale says re Colace
"....transfer into breastmilk is unknown but probably very minimal. Watch
for loose stools in infant. Probably compatible with breastfeeding."
Seem to me it may have the opposite effect to what you are suggesting.

"One other piece of the puzzle is that the baby hasn't gained any weight
yet that we know of. Now she's only 7 days. At birth 5 1b., 9 oz., at 3
days 5 lb. 5 oz., at 5 days - 5 lb., 3 oz. And baby will be weighed
again tomorrow."

The red flag for me is the lack of weight gain, along with the infrequent
bowel actions. As suggested I would think it is an intake problem. What was
the baby's weight when she went back for review?

This is a good reference re stool counts:

I would suggest this baby need to increase it's intake of breastmilk.

Hope this helps
