I agree...in my setting (where I ONLY see moms and babies having difficulty) 
the ones getting bottles are mostly getting bottles because they weren't 
doing the breast thing right.  But some, by history, were doing well until 
bottles were given for dubious reasons...and then suddenly mom is getting 
sore or the baby can't get milk.  (Because they then hump their tongue up in 
the back of their mouth like with a bottle.)

I do think avoiding unnecessary bottles in the nursery is advisable for 
several reasons...not the least of which is decreasing the hunger of the 
baby, therefore the milk removed from the breast...and dashing maternal 
confidence.

You might try (with the sceptical Pedis) the approach that we KNOW cowsmilk 
exposure as an infant increases the risk of eventually developing Type I 
diabetes...and we do NOT know how much exposure is necessary.  It could be 
that one bottle in the nursery is enough to trigger that process...
