Hi all,
Had an outpt.mom yesterday who asked if it was ok to eat soft cheeses
such as brie and bleu cheese during lactation, as they are
contraindicated during pregnancy because of the risk of listeria. She
says a relative miscarried at 5 months along due to listeria contracted
from brie cheese. Anybody know anything about this?

By the way, it was a great consult. Baby was named after
great-great-grandfather who was a president of USA in the early 1800s! I
don't want to give out names due to confidientality, but it was the
president who caught pnuemonia during his inaugaural address and died one
month later.
I love history so we had a nice chat. Baby had not been latching onto
left breast at all by 7 days old, but did well with nipple shield. This
mom teases her husband to remember to wear his raincoat so he doesn't
catch a cold or pnuemonia like great-great-great-great grandfather! ha
