Dear all:

Some of you may know (or I suppose must now say, knew) Professor Michael Latham. He was a pediatrician, a nutritionist, the Director of Cornell University's in International Nutrition program for 25 years, and had a long standing relationship with Kenya. He had countless graduate students who are scattered around the globe. Most importantly for those who may not know him, he was always an outspoken and tireless advocate for breastfeeding. His opinions about the importance of breastfeeding made their way into the New York Times Op/Ed section. Like James Grant, he never lost sight of the importance of breastfeeding as the central foundation for infant and child nutrition. He was also a kind and generous man.
