dear All

Urgent advice please

Re client with the mastitis and going to wean, had a call from her Doctor today, asking which medication is recommended for suppresion of lactation in the postpartum period. Could only explain what I have read.
This client now has another bout of mastitis (3rd ) and seriously wants to stop breastfeeding.

My questions wise ones are:-

Surely the mastitis should be resolved before weaning starts?
Has anybody had experience with using Dostinex (cabergoline) or Bromocriptine to suppress lactation in the postpartum period ( 4 weeks)
I have read the cautions about Bromocriptine. ( I wouldnt prescribe the Doctor would)
Is ther any fast track ways of weaning? But I have to keep in mind this is her 3rd bout of mastitis
Apparently the women is now beside herself and wanting to stop b/f NOW

Thankyou in advance for your advise and input

Sincerely
June Nicholls
