Alice Ziring mentioned the technique of warming newborn babies skin
to skin against mother's chest, with a blanket over them both. When
writing a presentation on Baby Friendly Hospitals in Australia, I
learned that Mitcham Private Hospital (Australia's first BFHI
accredited hospital) gives the baby to the father to keep warm by
putting it down his shirt, in situations where the mother needs
attention after delivery. I understand that men also have the "heat
pad" on the chest that was identified in the work on kangaroo care.

In need of a nice warm hairy chest to snuggle up to myself, as our
winter temperatures set new minimum records. He's working late.
