.. and unless you were on the phone too, you haven't a clue what was 
actually said.

Stressed mothers don't always take in all the info - selective hearing 
is an issue with anyone, never mind someone stressed in new motherhood.

There is also how the information is then processed.  Give two people 
the same info, you will get two different responses to it.

If you weren't there, you don't actually know what was said.  All you 
can do is meet incorrect information, with correct information.

What the Mum then does, or says, or responds, is up to her.  And if she 
tells her entire medical team they are talking claptrap, and the person 
on the phone told her not to do what they said as they are wrong... then 
you have a very serious communication issue to deal with.

Starting with the question... if she was getting good quality, 
supportive and up-to-date information from her in-house team... why was 
she on the phone to a stranger in the first place? 

Various answers there, ranging from she wasn't getting such support at 
all - or didn't feel listened to at all.  All the way through to her 
actively seeking new people until she got the answer she wanted to hear...
