Hello, Lactnetters,
Dr. Green wrote:
As a physician, I have noticed a recent and dramatic increase in
"freebies"
from Ross lately - free meals, dinners and such. What disturbs me most
is
that many these "free offers" are no longer routinely "disguised" as
"educational meetings" like in the past but are simply flagrant gifts

This struck a chord with me. As a Christian, whenever the walk gets
hard, I tend to think that I must be on the right track, or the devil
wouldn't be working so hard on me. Could it be that more and more women
are choosing to breastfeed, so the formula companies have to work harder
to promote the formula???? The breastfeeding advocates must be doing
something right!!!!

A nice story that's made my day..
I have a friend who just had her second baby. Her 2 year old was a
difficult baby, she was a nervous mother, and she gave up bf in the early
weeks. With this pregnancy, she found out all she could about bf and has
had no problems nursing this baby. When time came for her baby's one
month check, she said to me, "I wonder if he's going to tell me to
supplement." I said, "No, if he's gaining weight okay, he won't. And
even if he does,..." I stopped just short and she finished the sentence
for me- "don't do it." I have a great fear of undermining people's
faith in their doctors... but I was glad she got my point. Anyway, she
took the baby in. The ped told her, "Don't you dare stop bfding this
baby! He weighs 10 pounds already! (from birthweight of 7#- 4 weeks old)
And don't you dare give him cereal, either, or he'll be 20 pounds by the
time he's 6 months old!"
So glad she heard it from more than just me....
