ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Dear Gwendolyn,

I also wrote back to Robert and perhaps you and I might have
something to share, as well. I'm at the Math Forum,
http://mathforum.org/, which has a significant informal science
aspect. On our front page you can see our new Technology Problem of
the Week (tPoW) in Spanish link in the upper right-hand corner.
We're interested in other Spanish-related projects and have been
trying since '97 to get some off the ground.

If you think we might have something to share I'd love to chat with
you. I'll be at ASTC, Saturday noon and Sunday at the NSDL booth and
I'm staying in the Marriott until Tuesday.

Best wishes,	Gene Klotz

>Hello, Robert.
>
>We have spoken briefly before. As the Outreach Programs Coordinator
>at Explorit Science Center, a focus of my work is creating
>culturally and linguistically accessible programs.
>
>Our science center is located in Davis. Our programs serve a
>culturally diverse audience, primarily Latino, Hmong, and Russian,
>throughout the Sacramento region. One of our outreach programs is an
>evening family event called Health in Your World that focuses on the
>science of health, the human body, and the environment.
>
>I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to learn more
>about Celebra La Ciencia. I am particularly interested in hearing
>the specific ways that your project engages Spanish-speaking
>children and families. I would be happy to tell you about Explorit's
>outreach programs and share resources we have developed to better
>serve English learners.
>
>Are there any specific times that you are available? Perhaps we
>could meet for coffee sometime during the conference.

>With regards,

>>I direct Celebra la Ciencia, a project that combines media (radio,
>>newspapers) and community outreach to encourage Latino children and
>>families to get more
>>involved in informal science and health education. The project is active in
>>five areas (LA, Chicago, Washington State, Albuquerque, Washington, DC) and
