Its actually hard for me to think of an invention that *isn't* the  
combination of other inventions, looking around the office...

radio: transistor, battery, etc etc
ipod: hard drive, lcd, the switching technology
computer:  RAM, hard drive, servo motor, LCD, membrane switches, USB,  
Firewire
book
lightswitch
post its--well OK, that is maybe one invention....
