I have been debating whether to add the Rancho Guajome cistern to this
discussion, but now wish to do so. This is an above ground rectangular building with
a front gable and screen under the eaves that allows for air circulation. The
cement-lined cistern is at least ten feet below ground level. The exterior is
stucco and for all the world, this looks just like another out building. It
has not been precisely dated, but I suspect it is around 90 years old.
