This is one of the nightmares of buying boxed sets.  In the UK by law if
an item is faulty it has to be returned within two weeks for cash refund
or exchange.  But, take the Antal Dorati boxed set of Haydn symphonies.
There are 32 cds in there.  That would take more than a fortnight to
listen to.

Luckily HMV in London realise this and are liberal in their approach.
They will exchange even after the fortnight is up.

I have actually taken back a 3 CD boxed set of Debussy's Pelleas and
Mellisande that cost me around $10.  The problem was a broken box.  They
gave me a new box even though the cost of it alone is close to that of the
set.

This is where I disagree with Walter's approach.  If one buys something it
should be fit for the purpose and in pristine condition regardless of cost.
Therefore I think Berkshire should exchange without a problem.
