If you've heard the Wit version of the Threnody on Naxos, you might have
your doubts...  i certainly did:  in passages, i was reminded astonishingly
of the Vishnu symphony.  But that's waht makes Wit an exciting conductor:
although a student of Penderecki, he's looked at the scores as though he
never heard a bar of them in his entire life; & come up with a powerfully
logical solution to their challenges.
