Opera - Antena2 joins CBC Radio 2, La Chaine, BBC Radio 3 and WNED
in broadcasting Wagner's The Flying Dutchman on the Met, Saturday at
13:00 (note the early start time). On Monday at 17:30 Antena2 has Franz
Schubert's "The Conspirators". On Tuesday, WNED has the obligatory holiday
performance of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel starting at 20:00.

Holiday Music - On Saturday at around 7:00, BBC Radio 3, Antena2 and BBC
Radio 3 have 11 hours of Christmas music broadcast live from Europe and the
U.S., one hour to each of eleven different countries. In years past this
broadcast has had a surprising amount of excellent classical music, mostly
pre-baroque. On Monday at 21:00 WNED-FM has a couple of hours of the early
music ensemble Concerto Cologne in music for Advent and Christmas. On
Tuesday at 8:00 BBC Radio 3 has William Byrd's Mass in four parts and his
music for Advent and Christmas; at 20:00, WNED has "A Swiss Christmas" with
mostly baroque music. On Wednesday La Chaine has "Pastorales de Noel ou
splendours du passe" starting at 20:00, and on Thursday, 13:30 they have a
performance of excerpts from Bach's Christmas Oratorio; also, at 20:00 they
have a "programme de Noel".

Non-Holiday music - On Saturday WNED has a large helping of Beethoven,
starting at 10:00 and going through the day, interrupted by the Met at
13:00. Throughout the week at 4:00 BBC Radio 3's Composer of the Week is
Franz Schubert: lots of lieder.
