   Sounds like japanese bamboo to me. Very common along the Susquehenna and
tribuataries, grows rank, in empty land in the floodplain, blooms in late
summer, is kin to buckwheat and tastes like a mild form of it. Very nice in
my book. But I was raised on buckwheat.
