A design that I've used with success utilizes 1" black iron pipe for top
and bottom pivots, allowing the 4-frame obs hive to swing back against the
wall.  Bees enter/exit through the lower pipe.  The hive pivots on two pipe
stubs facing up and down similar to a farm gate.  By lifting the obs hive
slightly, it can be easily lifted off the lower pivot to take outside for
manipulation (plug the holes temporarily).
