My beekeeping apprentice, Sarah (of Bee Happy Plants) is having a house
built at her nursery, doing much of the work herself. I suggested to her
that she incorporates an observation hive covering one wall. Now she wants me
to design it for her!

This must have been done before. Can anyone steer me towards on-line
plans that I can crib?

She expressed concern that there might be danger to her grandchildren who
will be living there too. I did agree that there would be some danger:
principally that the kids would become besotted with the bees and addicted to
them (as runs in the family).

She also has some spare concrete blocks and intends to build a smokeless
'chimney' for bees to occupy! Provided it has a 'cupboard door' that would
enable her to see what bees do naturally in the way of home building.

Chris
