re the EasyCheck mite washer:

I recently tested it Adam.  I did multiple washes of the same sample of
bees and mites.  I got different recovery numbers each time, often with
poor recovery.  I hate to badmouth a product (especially one on which I was
consulted early in its development), but I'm not impressed with the final
product.

Of all mite sampling methods that I've tested to date (see the new ABJ for
my test of the CO2 shaker), I am most pleased with my Solo cup design.
We've used some of these "fragile" wash cups for hundreds of samples,
swapping the outer cup for a new clear one as needed.  They are cheap,
quick (45 secs gets 100% recovery), and accurate.
