Didn't I read somewhere (on this list?) that the quote was picked up by the 
New York Times from  a beekeeping club's newsletter in New York State? It 
was attributed to the editor,  A.Einstein.......Alfred Einstein!

The rest is history as they say.

My understanding is that the experts on Albert Einstein's writings have 
found no record that he ever said that..

This one    "Information is not knowledge."
 is also attributed to Albert Einstein.

If he did say it or not, matters little. It is worth remembering.
