"We may be qualified by experience to handle bees but few of us are qualified in diagnosis and it is unlikely that any patient would be."

A very good point. In this part of the world any treatment with bee
venom (injection or live bees) can only be administered by a medical
doctor registered with the Ministry of Health.

The use of bee venom treatment is believed to go back many thousands of
years in China, its use is well documented (in Chinese). The same
treatment points that are used for acupuncture needles are used to
administer bee stings. Indeed it has been suggested that bee sting
treatment was the precursor to acupuncture with acupuncture emerging
when the technology to make needles evolved.
