Some might consider you lucky, but although my scale is much smaller, our
recent move to a more rural location has seen the house attacked by
woodpeckers, rabbits and deer eating everything including blueberries

Rabbits and deer are really hard on small fruit trees come winter, be sure
to wrap trunks, and repellents on chest high branches. Deer love the shoots
and will destroy a young tree in the night.
Currant was probably birds, once they hit a ripe spot, they are just like
bees and will strip them in a day. Our mulberry trees are impossible to
protect. We plant blackberries with huge thorns (slows down birds) and red
raspberries (birds leave them usually) and be sure to stay on top picking
the ripe ones.

I leave rabbits alone as bait for the hawks, keeps them away from the
chickens a bit. All gardens are fenced for chicken intrusion and
rabbits..... This season carpenter bees, and right after you mentioned it,
woodpeckers, digging out the carpenter bee grubs in the eve of the garage
I really need to finish the metal facia!

Squirrels are real pest, they will strip a peach tree in a day, and pears
and apples are fair game. They take a bite or two and dump the rest. Traps
on the tree trunks will slow them a bit. I have caught 4 at a time on the
peach trees. You would think one would slow the rest, but not when the
ripe peaches are on, they climb over the carcass.... Grays are the worst.

Good luck!

Charles
