How are the kill rates out there?

Here in NE Pennsylvania (wayne co.) the local keepers assn. had
their meeting last week and most reported kill rates of around 40%-50%. My
friend only lost 6 out of 30 hives, mostly mites, a few starved. No horror
stories like last year-one guy lost 48 of 50 hives!
