My question: In my area we have too many mosquitos. Are they considered bugs, 
too? They have not really disappeared yet....

 
Nope, wearing my Entomology Degree hat, all bugs are insects, but not all insects are bugs.  Only the  Hemipterans are true bugs.  And they are actually a rather small percentage of insects in North America in terms of number of species.  Mosquitos belong to the Diptera.
