What I would suggest is having the mother ask for the references proving
that breastbuds are caused by prolonged breastfeeding. I feel that if
evidence-based practice is going to be the definition, then that particular
door can swing both ways.It is fine to discuss it...but a reference should
be available to support this recommendation before the mother weans.
I would estimate that this is another situation where breastfeeding is
sacrificed on the altar of ignorance.
