Pertinent to the 'not retaining information' discussion, and one of the
most painful stories I have read recently is the following short note in
the January 8 British Medical Journal. I have been called in to assist
women breastfeed while they are suffering from an epidural headache usually
being told the patient is 'intransigent' and 'unable to assume the
mothering role'. I am keeping a copy of this on file to remind me that
there is pain and then there is PAIN.
