I have been reading these posts for a while now (and do I ever hate it when
I get behind). I am so humbled by all the knowledge and experience of
everyone on this board. My name is Leslie and I have taught Childbirth
classes for 10 years, am a recent CLE, lucky enough to be working in the CL
capacity in our hospital, getting ready to take the CLC course and hopefully
pass the IBCLC test next year.

We have several peds in our area (San Diego) who use glucose pacifiers
(like a lollypop)in conjuction with anesthesia to perform circs. They feel
they provide some pain relief.I agree with Dr Newman, why fix what isn't
broken, religious beliefs aside :)

I am learning so much reading this board. What a wide range of topics!

Also, my family and I are traveling to Dominican Republic (Puerto Plata
area) in June and I would like to see their childbirth/breastfeeding
systems. If anyone on the board, lives there, I love to hear from you
privately and maybe meet.

Leslie
Mom to Jarek (21), Timothy (16), Brittany (13) all breastfeed.

* I guess I come from the "old school". It never occured to me that I
couldn't give birth without a bunch of drugs and interventions and would
not be able to breastfeed. What an interesting world we live in! *
