I am writing a paper and need to know: what is the current or most recent
data showing the percentage of mothers initiating breastfeeding in the United
States vs. the percentage of those mothers who have a duration of 6 months.
It would be nice to get data which separates exclusive breastfeeding from
token breastfeeding, but either would be most helpful.
I have looked at the Healthy People 2000 and 2010 websites and have had great
difficulty finding this info. If you can help, I would be most eternally
grateful!
Thanks,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC (who proudly works for WIC in Flagstaff, AZ, where
our initiation rates are 83% at hospital d/c and 51% at 6 months!)
