When people talk about inheriting CJ Disease, they mean that the prion has
insinuated itself into the sperm or egg that becomes the new baby. So it
isn't "inherited" the way things like red hair or being tall are inherited.
Nonetheless, it can be passed down the generations through the sperm or eggs
being infected with the prion.
It is *not* inactivated by heat -- that is to say, the prion can survive
cooking.
