A mother just delivered a 7 lb. 1 oz boy with Down's Syndrome a week
ago. She wants to resume taking 100 mg of Zoloft. I know that Zoloft
is one of the best SSRI's for breastfeeding mothers, and of course,
breastmilk is best for infants with Down's, but my question is whether
the fact that the baby has Down's may somehow change that equation?
This baby has no known cardiac abnormalities. Has anyone had any
experience with this situation? The neonatologist has suggested that
the mother and I try to research this further. We have the information
in Dr. Hale's 1999 book, but the Lactation Hotline we called indicated
more cause for concern. Has anyone had any experience with this
situation?
    Thank you,
