Thanks to all who responded. To follow up - good news. Within a couple days,
mom noticed that when the baby went 4 hours (at night) that her breasts felt
full again. And then the next day, the baby went back to the normal pattern.
She did increase her calories, and felt that may have been a contributing
factor. The baby had also gained a significant amount of weight, so she was
probably also experiencing a growth spurt. This is a committed breastfeeding
mother, and trusted her body rather than jumping for the artificial baby milk
bottles. Thanks for all your good advice.
