I have no experience from women who have used them, but:
I have seen them, and the advertising for them, and compared prices with the price of a 10 or 20 ml plastic syringe which anyone can convert to the same type of device, using the description in Jan Riordan's "Practical Guide to Breastfeeding". They cost in Norway more than 20 times as much as syringes. Only drawback with the homemade variety is that unlike Nipplettes, they can not be discreetly worn under clothing. But with the right kind of gauzy, flowing top they could be quite striking in an indiscreet kind of way, and probably safer than piercing!
