Add to the list:
Peter Reynolds, late 70's early 80's (UK)
and myself,
Frink, D. S. 1984 Journal of Field Archaeology. (Where you will find the
citations for Reynolds, Roper, Redman and others.)

The effects of plowing are (statistically speaking) homogenization of coarse
particles (A.K.A. artifacts) within the plow zone, with approximately 1/6 of
the coarse particles visible (accessible to the Archaeologist) on the surface
once the soils have settled down after plowing (depending on soil texture
between 1 and 3 inches of rain).
Coarse particle movement (horizontally) follows a stochastic pattern with
each step = one furrow. Coarse particle distribution will approximate a
normal (bell curve) distribution, with the Kurtosis decreasing through time
(number of events of plowing).

Hope this helps,
Douglas Frink
