Hi, don't know all the facts, but I try to follow what is going on legally
when it comes to breastpumping (feeding) breaks. For I ended up quitting my
job over these problems,3 years ago. (Should have been sooner, not later.)
And I will send a framed copy of the legislation to my former employer when
a law does, finally, pass.

Anyway, I think, so far, Minnesota is the only state where it is written
that an employer must allow time for a mother to pump or breastfeed during
her work day.  But not a paid break.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney has a bill pending in Congress trying to get employers
to allow break time for the returning mothers.  We all need to keep those
letters to our State Representatives and Congressman sent periodically to
let them know that this is an issue we don't want to be buried under all of
the other legislation that is being ignored.

Last I heard in Ohio, our legislators wouldn't pass a bill allowing
breastfeeding in public. They were worried that (heaven forbid!) they might
see a woman breastfeeding in a 5 star restaurant or Church!  So, they were
going to simply downscale it to a public indecency line where a woman
wouldn't be arrested for her nipple showing while breastfeeding.  I don't
know if that ever went anywhere or not.

I have heard that sometimes the best way,(even though we don't want to hide
what we are doing), is to take a restroom break and pump while we are gone,
with no mention of the pumping.  Smokers don't always announce their true
reason for slipping away. Some mothers encounter less problems by not
letting co-workers and employers know what they are doing. (I didn't hear
this advice until I started taking all of my Breastfeeding Education
Courses)
