I think this only works if one gets LactNet messages as individual messages.
If I were to hit "reply" when I wanted to respond to an individual message,
the subject line would read "LactNet Digest yadda yadda yadda" and the
entire digest would be resent to the list, along with my answer, unless I
specifically deleted it.  We all know that some people do this, and clutter
up the list with entire former digests.

I also don't see how having the same subject necessarily allows one to
follow the thread any easier -- but then, I read (or skim) the entire digest
from top to bottom, rather than only reading certain topics.

I belong to only a few lists, but I must say LactNet users have the best web
manners I've seen -- I belonged to a breast cancer email list for a few
weeks, and one of the main reasons I unsubscribed was that (1) people
insisted on quoting entire messages before they replied with "me too" or "I
agree" (2) people insisted on leaving their HTML coding turned on and (3)
people often used the "reply" button, so that entire digests were repeated,
and they were LONG, much longer than LactNet digests.
