It would be wonderful if we were all independently wealthy and/or didn't
need to eat or pay the mortgage, but in fact we do.  Being fairly
compensated for health care (Lactation consulting) that ultimately saves
the insurer money with better health for mom and baby is a given, not an
option.  I agree with Deb, poor pay = no work.  They will get the message!
A fair rate seems to   me to  be  what a pool   nurse is paid in your area.
