Kathleen, thanks for sharing this. I read it just after telling the only
other IBCLC in this city how incredibly valuable LACTNET has been for me and
felt compelled to respond even though I find posting to LACTNET scary! The
"flavour" of the list has changed over the past year or so. Maybe it can
change again?
Mostly I find that the posters are gracious, even when offering different
approaches in a thread. Email is not an easy format and sometimes the tone
one "reads" is not what the writer intended. We use sensitivity and empathy
in dealing with our clients and need to use this with our peers, too.
IMHO we need a balance, in this young profession, between empirical
evidence and the wisdom that comes from experience. It is healthy to
question our practices.
One request: please leave the case studies on LACTNET.
