Has anyone else seen the excellent article in the Fall 1999 Birth Gazette about
the ethical issues related to using a formula company's lactation stats? I have
felt this way myself...how can the stats be trusted when they are produced by
"studies" that double as marketing tools? The author, Daven Lee is chair of the
New Mexico BF Task Force. She argues that it is time we called for the medical
community to fund its own studies on this subject. If you want to read this gem
of an article: "Breastfeeding Stats Up Nationwide! The Truth Behind the
Headline." is in Birth Gazette, Fall 1999, Vol. 15, No. 4. PP17-19.

I recommend it.

Susan
