If I remember correctly, the ACOGG/AAP standards state that
separation is NOT routinely necessary for maternal fever. It is a
struggle I have had at my hospital. Even though I have pointed out
that our policy is in conflict with those standards, we still have
to get an OK from the baby's doctor or keep mom and baby apart until
the fever is down for 24 hours! It does require 2 elevated temps 4
hours apart to separate, so we have some time to clear it with the
Ped, but it's one of those frustrations I wish I could change.
