One of the Vancouver, British Columbia alternate papers had a "Best of
Vancouver 1999". Included in this was the Best Place to Breast-feed (sic).
"According to LaLeche League, anytime, anyplace. Those who are a little
reluctant to be pioneers in the strangely taboo practice or natural baby
catering should take themselves and their offspring to Commercial Drive,
the breastfeedingest place in the Lower Mainland. Whether you're having
Latin American, Italian, Japanese, pancakes, or just hanging out in
Grandview Park, you can whip it out with ease and comfort; someone else is
already doing it."

On another note, there was a coupon booklet with this week's community
newspaper. One advert was for SMA and Nursoy formulas, courtesy of
Wyerth-Ayerst Canada Inc. Join the expectant mom club. Receive a free baby
organizer, valuable offers worth $100 in savings from various leadeing
brands, and also receive an SMA gift pack which includes a 450 gram tin of
powdered formula, nutrition info booklets, Nursoy sample packet, and
valuable formula coupons.

Isn't that a WHO Code violation, giving out free formula and marketing
directly to expectant mums?
