Hi - I've been talking to a mom pregnant w/her 3rd child who intends to
breastfeed. Pregnancy #1 was complicated w/toxemia, bedrest - and the
stress both emotionally and physically precipitated a difficult
lactation experience initially. Pregnancy #2 and lactation #2 were
without complication. Now, at 30 weeks gestation her blood pressure is
increasing and so is her anxiety as a result. She is not yet spilling
protein in her urine. She is following dr's orders to rest as much as
possible, but other than that, wonders what she can proactively do,
holistically, or whatever - drink more water? calcium? any truth to
low salt diet? She would like something to DO rather than AVOID to give
her some sense of control. She is very fearful that now at age 40 this
will be a more difficult delivery and lactation experience.....and
advise? any herbal teas, etc that would help, even emotionally to ease
her anxiety? thanks! janna zempsky cpnp, ibclc in west hartford CT
