In the hospital I worked at, we set up the bilibeds/blankets with the local
Children's hospital home health. Most of our patients were medicaid and in
order to recieve reimbursement for the durable medical equipment, it was
necessary to have home health provide the service.(Technically, medicaid
would pay for the nurse, but not just the equipment) The mother was given
the option to come in for lab work, but in the majority of the cases the home
health nurse drew the lab and notified the physician. It was a good system.
This also provided some follow-up with a high risk population.
