What was the methodology of the Classic CD ranking? Was it done by a
readers' vote? It seems to me that the names with the most public clout
have got top places. There is no other way I can explain Oistrach and
Horowitz at 2 and 3, especially since they outrank Kreisler and Heifetz,
and Rachmaninoff and Cortot respectively.
No Hofmann either, which is a rather graver omission.
